Older Adult Exercise Qualifications & Training
Professional training for instructors working with older adults, including Chair Exercise and YMCA Older Adults qualifications.


YMCA Level 3 Award in Supporting Participation in Physical Activity: Older Adults (610/1668/8)

Develop the knowledge and practical skills to support older adults to stay active, independent and confident through appropriate exercise and physical activity.
This qualification explores the ageing process and the role exercise can play in supporting long-term health and wellbeing. You’ll develop an understanding of the changing needs of older adults and learn how to plan, adapt and deliver suitable exercise for a range of abilities.
The course is designed to prepare you to work with older adults who may be:

Active, healthy and independent

Beginning to experience changes in health, mobility or physical function

In need of adapted or more accessible exercise options
You’ll also develop a broader understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of an ageing population, including recognising when additional support or other appropriate services may be beneficial.
The aim is to give you the knowledge and confidence to provide safe, effective and inclusive exercise opportunities that support healthy and active ageing.

YMCA Level 2 Award in Delivering Chair-Based Exercise (600/5924/2)
The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to plan, deliver and adapt safe and effective exercise programmes for disabled clients.
This qualification is open to :-
Qualified fitness professionals
Pilates instructors
Yoga instructors
None qualified instructors may also apply but the Level 2 Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Fitness Instructors must be covered at an extra cost. Ask for details.
